1987 celebrity 2.8l fuel pressure issue
I recently made the grave mistake of washing my engine at the car wash due to having a relentless power steering leak. After washing and rinsing it fired up but had a bad miss. I didnt think anything about it because ive done this several times in the past and once or twice the same thing happened but after drying out real good it returned to normal. This time is different, after about a week of running like crap with a bad misfire or 2 and no change in sight I started checking things out. Retrieved 1 dtc code 33. Pulled off intake plenum and checked fuel injectors. Found 2 that ohmed or pretty low. So I replaced them. No change. While the plenum was off I thoroughly cleaned throttle body, iac, plugs, and as much of the intake manifold as possible. Also checked the plug wires for resistance and any damage although plugs and wires have less than 3000 miles on them. Everything checked outfine. Finally checked the resistance of the coil packs and found 1 that didnt even register. So swapped it out. Boom, car rings like a champ again. Bur only for a minute or two then fuel pressure tanks and car dies. And will not restart for a while. Eventually after some time you turn it on and it primes the fuel rail with 35- 38 psi and cranks and runs brilliantly for 1 -2 minutes before fuel pressure tanks and car dies and will not restart. Wtf? Fuel pressure wasnt even am issue when I started to work on it. But now it runs fine but cant keep fuel coming to the injectors. Ive changed injectors, fuel filter has less than 1000 miles on it same with plugs and wires. I tried an ecm from a similar car and still no change.
