I have as 1993 Lumina with the 3.1. Lately when I drive it it will sputter and the service engine soon light will come on. after the initial sputter it will run fine. When it sits a while and you restart it the light is out and it runs fine until it sputters again. When I checked the code I get an error 42 which I have found several interpertaions for on the internet but most of them talk about the ignition module. Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong or what I should look at?I don't care to spend a lot of money on this car.

code is for an electronic spark timing circuit i'd check out ur ignition module. if that is ok then check ecm.
