92 Corsica Transmission Issue

92 Corsica Transmission Issue
All:
I recently replaced the transmission in my daughter's 92 Corsica. The "new" transmission has a double pigtail connector coming off of the transmission and the old one had just a single connector.
I was able to swap them over, but now the new transmission winds out 1st gear to about 25-30 then upshifts. I have no idea what year the new transmission is.
Could the delay in shifting be due an electrical issue?
The transmission in question is a TH-125C / 3T40.
