Default Radiator fan cooling sensor

Hi there. I currently drive a 1986 Chevy Celebrity wagon. I bought it October 17, 2015 with almost 87,000 original miles on it. It's been a great car. Within the last month my cooling fan has been stuck on. As soon as I turn the key the radiator fan starts up. Within the last few days when the engine is cold the fan would start and stop rapidly then as the engine

warmed it would stay on constantly. Just yesterday the fan stopped all together. I thought the relay went bad at first but now perhaps the cooling sensor? Does anyone know where the cooling fan sensor is? Is it the same one that runs the idiot light on the dash? Does anyone know where the fan relay is? There is a relay mounted on the driver side shock tower. I appreciate the help, thank you and have a great weekend!
