Default Which scanner to use?

I have a 1995 Lumina 3.1 and I need to know what kind of handheld I need to purchase to read the codes. The manual says that you are supposed to "jump" the only two connectors that are on theOBD interface but they are the wrong ones according to the book. Specifically which scanner can I buy to extract the info I need? All of the OBD-I scanners for chevrolet that I have found have not listed the 95' Lumina as one that it reads. My car just started skipping when it gets warm and I am smelling gas and the check engine light comes and goes. I have all ideas that it is probably the ICM but I am not sure. All assistance greatly appreciated!
