305 heads
i am considering outing 305 heads in it
would this be a good idea? i plan to eventually completely overhaul the motor and put new everything in it this is just a short hp problem fix
my motor is only pushing maybe 210hp at the most
i can stay with a friends 96 gt manual with exhaust thats about the fastest thing if stayed with

do me a favor take those 305 heads down the street and give it to the local farmer with an old chevy in his yard, or throw em out do what u want just dont put them on a 350, i dont know why this myth floats around, see 305 heads bump up the compression (sounds good right?) but the valves are tiny, and the ports cant flow worth crap, just save some cash and buy some vortech heads they are like 500 bucks and flow great, the only thing is you are restricted to .425 lift on your cam, but if u want to drive it regularly u dont want bigger anyway, hope this helps
EDIT:i originally stated vortech heads will handle .475 lift, while it is only .425

2wd is correct 305 are possibly some of the worst flowing heads chevy has ever made. But vortecs can be machined for better valve lift at around .525. or you can buy a great set of aluminum heads with oversized valves and high lift springs for under 600 dollars. Sad to say putting the 305's on will greatly decrease your performance.
