Default 83 camaro 2.8

Hi
I have a 83 2.8 Camaro with a Holley 390cfm carb I think The carb is brand new & the car hasn't been used since fitting. I bought it as an unfinished project and was not running properly.

It will start & run rough for a short while, then stop due to the engine flooding.
If I remove the plugs & cl;ean them it will do the same again.
I have been through the ignition system & replaced several parts and am now happy that is all ok.

I need to start looking at the carb now. Can anyone advise some basic checks to do first on the carb/fuel system before I strip & examine the carb, or settings that should be done from new.

Thanks
Paul

390 CFM is too much for that engine. You need to look at a lower CFM.

Default Update

I have got the car running now. Still needs abit of fine tuning but getting there.
It is deffo a 390 CFM carb, but is mounted opposite way round to all pictures I've seen!!! Secondary fuel bowl at front!!!!
It was originally fuel injection. It has a manual petrol pump on the engine block & the fuse for the electric pump has been removed.
Don't know if the electric pump is still in the tank or not. Will it cause any issues if it is? restricting flow etc.
Also the TV cable for the auto box is not on the main throttle arm, but on the secondary arm that comes in later on throttle travel. I'm sure this is not right and should be on the main arm. Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers
Paul
