BUILD! 67 RS/SS Camaro
My father, uncle and I are in a joint effort to finish a 67 RS/SS Camaro that we started in 2002. It was completely torn down then, but I was too young at the time to really do much with it.
The car is actually grafted. It has the front-end of a completely different RS on it. It was wrecked at some point an torn almost in half.
Between battling frame problems, waiting for clearance from the DMV and insurance to graft a new VIN plate on the new firewall, and general rot and rust, the car was almost beyond restoration.
Anyway, we got it back in September from a guy that re-built the whole back of the car (in green primer). It took him 6 years because he had a shop fire....
But, I'm motivated and its gonna be finished. I got out yesterday. I repaired and puttied up the dent in the firewall. I drilled out the holes for the antenna. Then I primed the rims, inner fenders, rear spoiler, hood release, and hood hinges yesterday. Paint will go on tomorrow probably. The hardest part is getting the ash and soot from the shop fire off the surface. The soot is especially stubborn because it can get on your clothes and then transfer onto the paintable surface when carried...
I'll periodically post pics and updates as the car is built. Its a rolling body right now.

It will pretty much be a brand new RS/SS when we are finished!

Its near immaculate. He has had it since his 16th birthday 33 years ago.
Anyway, I got out today and took out the Gauges. This Camaro has 5k original miles. Not really. I think the odo might have rolled over, or it may have come from the young donor car.
I forgot to mention this car has some sentimental value. My dad vowed he would replace the RS he flipped in 79. It went end-over-end 9 times into the woods going about 109 in a high speed chase.
Usually the Pine Level po-po chased you out of town and then tucked tail and returned to the station, the State Highway Patrol was apparently a different story.

great project, keep us updated on progress.
Here is a shot of my old 67 was not an SS/RS, but was a facxtory 327 with 300hp stock, I did the following, bore/blueprint, edelbrock tunnel ram, 750 dbl pump, exhaust/headers,, B&M quick shift on a 2-speed powerglide. have 360+ when done, and a pretty quick ride.
sorry for crappy quality its the only picture I have now - this was before exterior done, at one point I had a full snorkle, but after to many tickets, I cut it down, fiberglassed sealed it air cleaner sat above hood level so still needed a rise.

I got out and...tried to prime the underbody yesterday. My paint gun is gravity fed and doesn't do good upside down, so after I tried unsuccessfully to paint it with the gun upright, I gave up. I'll just rattle can and sand it.
And my inner fenders froze last night before they were good and dry and now the paint is wrinkled...
Thats quite a setback at this stage in the game.
Dad and I did find someone to do the actual paintjob. In the car club we are in as a matter-of-fact.
I did a little work on the 81 today instead of the 67. I put on most of the Chevrolet Racing dress-up kit. New valve covers & Breather.
