Just a warning for second gen guys
I sold a parts only '74-ish Camaro instrument cluster on eBay last month to a reseller who sells a lot of second gen parts and sells white face screened clusters for about $600 a shot. It was only up a few hours when he used Buy It Now and paid $150 for it, a little high for what was there.
He complained right away that he felt like he paid too much because the clear cover had a crack he didn't see, and when I offered to sell him the dash bezel he didn't want to pay extra for it but would pay some shipping if I sent it along. So I didn't send it. I probably should have just cancelled the whole thing then. But I sent it out in the first box handy, padding it with foam sheets and making sure it was wrapped and did not move in the box. 24+ years on eBay, I know better than to pack stuff poorly.
The evening it arrived he opened a return claiming it was damaged in transit. The photos made it look like someone had tried to take it apart and broken the black plastic under the clear top. This is where things went off the rails. I questioned how it could have been broken this way and asked to see some pictures of the foam packing. He insisted all I had packed it with was some newspaper. I put some in but could have left it out, the foam trapped it in place. So I asked several times for pictures, USPS would need to see it for a claim, and it would prove his case. He continued to act like there was no foam. This made no sense to me, unless he was lying about how it got broken. So I called him on it.
What followed was emails with personal threats to come to my house and commit an assault, anti-Semitic name calling (apparently my German name makes me Jewish?), and just an absurd stream of nonsense so bad eBay blocked him from leaving feedback.
I accepted the return because I didn't want the strike on my account, and it looked salvageable. What I got back was purposely smashed in ways not possible in shipping, the broken end of the front cover broken in four places, the gear indicator needle broken off, the tabs between the round main gauge pods snapped off that were intact in the pictures he sent me.. But he did leave a couple of little pieces of my foam in there, along with what was left of the cluster bouncing around loose.
Then I got a gloating email that he was sure it wasn't any more damaged in shipment, and more anti-semitic and now homophobic emails. Yeah, okay, I already know you purposely smashed it like a toddler would.
The bottom line here is Glen is not someone you want to deal with, because he's not honest. I don't think it reflects on Warner Robbins Georgia that there's one nasty person living there. But since I as seller can't leave a negative feedback for this guy, I thought I should point it out somewhere for others not to deal with this person. I don't even understand how someone so unhinged has a nearly 2000 FB count and only one negative showing.
