Default Ignition switch help

This may not fix it but will allow you to pull the key out. We have yet to find the exact issue why this happens but in an automatice once you have turned off the truck, smack the gear shift from the left hand side. It works easier if the passenger can smack it because they usually have a better angle for whatever reason then the key should release. It is odd I agree but it does work.

Make sure it is in "park" first...

I spent 5 minutes wondering why it wouldn't come out, gear shift in neutral...

assuming it's an automatic, there is a sensor located underneath the shifter console. when in park it sends a signal to the ignition lock stating it's in park, which releases the key. these sensors can get sticky, or gummed up, and once in awhile fail. pull the center console, and attached at the base of the shifter you should see the sensor. it'll have the electrical connection. try to take this off and clean the contacts. if you cannot get it off, wrap a few rags around the base, and if you can, squirt the area that the shifter contacts the sensor with MAF cleaner. MAF cleaner is not as harsh as carb cleaner. i've had to do this to a couple gm cars. a little cleaning, works like a charm. good luck.
