my husband has a 1993z28 just replaced the water pump now after jumping it it idles for about 5 mins then shuts down thought it might be erg valve anybody have any ideas

Welcome to the forum.
I would check fuel pressure while it's running and any wiring in the area of the water pump removal. Also check the battery connections to make sure they're clean and tight.
