ok i got this car 1995 z28 5.7 and the fans never turn on... they turn on if i have my ac on about 5 mins after and only went on twice. so i kno they work. but they have never turned on with out ac and even wen temp got to 200-240

 

Yep, I had the same issue out of my 1991 z28. One fan will only come on when the a/c is on because of the extra load on the motor, and the other comes on when it gets to a certain temp. My computer went bad in my Z and after it was replaced the fans never worked again. About the best and cheapest way to fix it is to go to advance auto parts or whatever and buy a closed loop dual fan relay set-up. It comes with a temp. probe that goes into the radiator, the relay, fuse, all wiring needed, and the adjustable thermostat. All you gotta do is cut the fans out of the factory wiring harness and splice them into the relay kit. It works pretty well. My only complaint was that the relay burnt up after about 2 years and I had to buy a new one. That or you can trouble shoot the issue and maybe find it to only be a bad fan relay or ground or something to that effect. I know in the 3rd gen camaros the fan relay was beside the fuel pump relay on the drivers side of the firewall. I don't know much about the LT1's though. Hope this somewhat helps ya, weather is getting hot out there, you better fix it quick or you'll risk overheating.
