Radio drawing more power
Hi Team,
I have a 2014 chevy camaro ss. In the last months, if I don't use the vehicle for 3-4 days, the car battery used to die. I jump started the vehicle a few times and then took it to a dealer once, he replaced the battery. However, the problem recurred with the new battery too. The battery problems started at the same time when my radio stopped working. So, I took the car to a local shop, the owner used trial and error to identify the component that was draining battery. As per their analysis, radio component was drawing more than half a milliamp (~0.67mamp) when the car was idle and all other components had gone to sleep. Simple workaround would have been to remove the radio efuse, but I was told that the component that powers the radio will also power other components like alarm etc.. So, removing the radio fuse is not an option.
To fix the problem, radio needs to be replaced. To do that, mechanic told me that, they have to unscrew the screw that is present in the middle of the dashboard and they can't do that without removing the windshield. So, to fix this, I have been told, it will need a windshield and the radio replacement.
Do any of you know if there are any other options ?
