Walk-Through on the TPS Replacement on a '01 Z28
Hello ladies and gents,
I helped my nephew replace the throttle position sensor (or TPS) on his '01 Z28 recently so I'd like to post up the procedure. Note that this walk-through applies to the Z28 model. I'm not certain if the procedure for TPS replacement on a base model differs dramatically from the Z28 process..
--TPS location--
The Throttle Position Sensor is located on the side of your throttle body. It is depicted as key #6 in this '01 Z28 Throttle Body diagram.
--Replacement--
1) Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector.
2) Remove the TP sensor attaching screws.
3) Remove the TP sensor.
4) Remove the TP sensor O-ring seal.
5) Install the TP sensor O-ring seal on the TP sensor.
6) Install the TP sensor on the throttle body with the throttle valve in the closed position. Make sure the TP sensor lever lines up with the TP sensor drive lever on the throttle shaft.
7) Install the TP sensor attaching screws. Tighten the TP sensor attaching screws to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
8) Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
9) Perform the TP sensor learn procedure with the OEM scan tool if equipped with traction control.
You're done!
