will an obd1 scanner work on my 94 z28?
i just read about this in another post but it wasnt very clear. it said they have the obd1 plug with an obd2 computer or is it the other way around? thanks

And the answer to that is, if u have an early 94 it should be a 12 pin obd 1 style connector, but this is where a lot of people get led astray, I did from a chevy mechanic of all people. After that they went to an obd2 style connector, but the cars remained obd1, some misinformed people call this obd1.5, obd 1.5 was only used on corvettes, I believe late 95 early 96, I've seen an lt4 vette that was 1.5, it was essentially obd1 with a few more components relaying info to the pcm. And if you have an obd 2 car u can still read the codes with an obd 1 scanner, it's just jumping the ground and the actual data plug with little jumper wires to the corresponding connector pins on the obd 1 scanner, u can find the diagrams all over, if not yell I'll send em to ya. Now if we could only find a way to be able to use an obd2 scanner on an obd1 car and be able to retrieve all of that lovely real time data, oh we can, we just have to upgrade more or less to obd2 lol
