1980 caprice classic starting problem

I have a 1980 caprice classic with a 305. Engine will only start with starter fluid and runs shortly with rpm increase. Dies after about 20 seconds and wont start back.

Probably a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. Disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor, crank the engine and see if gas flows from the line. Put a cup under the line to catch the gas.
