I have a chey 1985 caprice classic which quit the other day.

I replaced the fuel pump and verified I have fuel pumping to the carb by loosing the bolt that holds the filter in. I still can’t get it to run.
I pulled the distributor and the coil looks fine, the cap and rotor look good.
When I pull a plug and turn it over I do not see any spark. I did verify I have 12 volts going to the coil. Just wonder if the next step is replacing the control module or if there is anything else I should check?

 

Try a different ignition module. These can and do go. If the coil checks out then this is the next step.

 

Go ahead and replace that cap and rotor. The HEI is notorious for problems in that area. Replace the ign. module also.
