jpop101, not sure if u r still lookin' at this post, but i'll add this anyways. first, u have got 2 put in some punctuation points, i can't figure out all of what u r asking. u say u have a 4.3 V8 in your car, r u sure about that, 'cause the 4.3 V8 was only in production in '75 & '76-it only made 110 HP! and only came in the Monza & Nova, it definately couldn't blow away much.
if u ment the V6, i gotta say, don't do a dam thing 'cause that's unbelievable!! verify what engine u actually have in your Caprice, as being an ex-cop car, it'll probably have the same engine in it as a vette from the same era, usually called an "interceptor" engine. keep us posted on what u find out.

jpop, i know exactly the engine you're speaking of. it's amazing how many chevy enthusiasts have never heard of the 4.3 liter v8 "baby LT1" offered in 94-96 caprices. for performance mods, i'd recommend looking into a performance chip, after you've done the basics like getting a better intake and exhaust. i wouldn't put a 350 in its place, unless you could find an LT1 they put in some caprices from that year. i wouldn't do anything radical like put a supercharger or turbo on it unless you rebuild it first.

Agreed, the Caprice 9C1 (Police Package) did have a 4.3 V8 option for 94-96. Personally, I would wait for it to die and then put the money into a LT1 5.7.

If it ain't broke , don't fix it .

Unless you are cursed with too much money & it is paining you . In that case send it to me & I will pay bills , groceries , insurance , Dr. bills , meds , etc. .

If you want more performance, find a police package Caprice with the 5.7 LT1. They were supposed to have 270 hp but having driven many of them I would put it more around 300 hp. Then with a chip upgrade you could push 330 hp with out changing anything else. The 4.3 is a great engine but if you want more performance the 5.7 is the way to go.
