60 belair stalling while braking,why???
Hey guys so i bought this classic belair with 235 and i rebuilt the rochester one barrel, adjusted the valves, set timing and got it running. So my problem is that when i brake it stutters and starves of fuel because to start it i have to give it gas to restart. I checked the float on it thought it was too low but it is fine fuel level is about 1/4 inch below fuel bowl. I put a electric fuel pump thinking it would be better than a mechanical now im wondering if that could be part of this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thaks guys.
Wondering if i should just go back to mechanical pump since id have to put a regulator on also. Reason i went to electric is because i bought a replacement mechanical pump (ebay!!) and it didnt even last 3 months but now i guess i will just get a better brand mechanical and see that will aleviate problem.
How many psi does the electric pump provide? If it's too high, it can push past the shutoff needle and flood the engine.
Adjust idle screws. May be too lean at idle.
The float could be set too high allowing fuel to flood the engine.

4-7 PSI, 38 GPH edelbrock micro pump. Adjusted air fuel mixture screw with a vacuum gauge till carbs pulling most vacuum ,idles at around 900 rpm. Float was what i was thinking too its just that it gets fuel starved not flooded cuz i have to give it gas to restart and just a pump not a full leave the pedal down to unflood.
