85 caprice classic 4.3L v6: engine compatibility and recommendations?
Engine seized up. Chassis is solid (based on brother's recommendations), but I'm out of $$$.
What's the best replacement option? Cheapest? Easiest? I need this car rolling again ASAP so my son can get to school and work.
Thanks for your time - I don't know much, so sorry if I don't make sense.

I would think the most common place to look would be a wrecking yard with S10 trucks as quite a few of those came with the 4.3. The old Astro vans did also.
I'm assuming this has the throttle body fuel injection. If that's the case then as long as you found a 4.3 from the above mentioned vehicles and they have the same injection setup, it should be a fairly easy swap.
More than likely you'll have to swap a couple of sender units for the temperature and oil pressure as I doubt your Caprice has gauges like an S10 or Astro.
Hope this helps.
