91 Caprice 700R4 Wont Shift from First till about 40
Hello all. Anyone familiar with these 700R4 trannys? I have the common problem of the trans not shifting out of first gear until the engine is screamin and im doing 40mph then it slams into 2nd gear and from there it will take a while before it hits 3rd and 4th. Ive checked the governor and even swapped it out with a known good one. Heres another catch... The first 20 mins of driving when warming up, it shifts normally, maybe a little too hard, but seems to shift at the normal spots. This trans was "rebuilt' about 10k miles ago. Oil looks and smells normal. Any ideas? Transmissions really arent my thing and dont know much about them. Thanks in advance...
Edit: Also, I just pulled out the kick down cable out of the trans and nothing broken or off. So I tried to drive it with the kickdown cable disconnected from throttle body and it drove just the same. Still didnt shift when supposed to, but did shift at 40mph.

My first post,but,it sounds like a TV cable adjustment.if youve been driving for any length of time,im told a rebuild most likely will be in order.
