I bought what used to be a tow truck. It now does not have a bed so its just a 3500 chevy pickup. It has a diesel tranny, 454 engine and a 4 barrel carb. I just replaced the carb and since then the truck will not shift out of first unless its at a HIGH rpm and then its a hard shift. It starts up just fine, goes into drive, 4 wheel drive, and reverse. It idles just fine. Im at a lost now as to what to do. Ive taken it to two shops and they tell me they cant fix it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Did you mean '83.? Carbs were long gone by '93; Or, is this a cobble job?
