Sounds like a plugged radiator. Did the prior owner replace the radiator with a used one from a junk yard or add anything to the coolant? Does the owners manual call for Dex-cool vs regular antifreeze? The two are not compatible and plug your system up. Pull the radiator and take it to a service that can boil it out and pressure test it. Also want to back flush the entire system, especially the heater core.

the radiator is new, I’m going to try to drain it and flush it a few times and put a bottle of that flush stuff in it as well. And I’m pretty sure its only had normal antifreeze it’s whole life. Because dex cool wasn’t used on these cars

Tried to flush it out with water and it didn’t work, took out the themostat and drove it to work ice cold. Any ideas how to unclog it?
