Default engine lugs down with trans in gear when cold?

im just looking for some help with a problem that just showed up. here is the problem. when i shift the trans into reverse or any gear with the engine cold the engine bogs down almost to the point of stalling out. but it only does it when the engine is cold once warmed up it goes away. and it also seems to be quite sluggish while driving when the engine is cold but again it goes away once the engine gets to operating temp. any tips from anyone to enlighten me on this problem and to possibly remedy it would be appreciated thanks

How many miles are on it, and the even better question, when have you changed your spark plugs and wires last, or if ever? If you engine is lugging and idling rough on a cold block, plugs are the first thing to give a check out.

Could also be a distributor issue.
