I love the way my caprice rides the only problem was the 305 that was in it just pucked still runs not knocking just threw oil up out of the pcv valve and all over the engine compartment now what would of caused that im thinking rings are gone and oil probably wasnt changed in like 5 years from the look of it smells like crap and has a hint of antifreeze in it lol i got it 2 weeks ago from a guy near where i live but now i gotta put a new engine in it and i got the 91 9c1 5.7 liter for it its got 98,000 miles on it but thats just a labor of love i guess lol

 

How many miles on it ?

Before you change engines , I would do a few things .

Clean up everything , replace the PCV valve , change oil and filter .

W/ o the PCV valve , does it smoke ?

Do a compression test . Drive it a few thousand miles , paying close attention to the oil level . Is it burning oil ? Leaking oil ?

Do the spark plugs need replacing ? Fuel filter ?

Is the tranny shifting OK ?

Plug wires OK ? Check engine lite on ?

When Dad owned my 91 5.0L , it got great gas mileage . With the automatic overdrive trany .

i drove it for a while had plans on changing oil but after taking chunks of oil out of the head when the car was going i noticed it was burning oil bad so yea its a bad engine the trans and other stuff onthe car tho is pefect shifts fine and firm goes into 4th gear real good and every other gear but yea the 305 would need rebuilt and i figured i might as well just get the other engine in yea its a 350 im not complaining or anythingbut i wish i would of been able to just keep it original good thing both engines are tbi so no conversion problems and the 350 is also a roller engineso im good lol
