Hello I'm a new member on this site I have a 1988 caprice 5.7L old cop car i've had for like 6 years its names big bertha and i can't seem too part with her lol . I have been having some electrical issues and idling. First off my brights work but my regular lights don't, the brake dummy light stays on (recently replaced brake lines), right when i start the car runs like **** tell it warms up then drives fine, and recently the heat quit working and ive already replaced old blower when turn dial on nothing happens and it worked fine.i have recently replaced the chassis ground,and negative battery cable. I love my car it has always drove the engine runs perfect with well over 200K just these problems have started building up and where i live it snows and i haven't had my heat and its sucks lol. so any help would be greatful I NEED HELP PLLLLLLLLLEASE!!!!!!@!@!!

 

As for as the engine issues , I always try to look for bad / leaking vacuum lines and gadgets . Loose or unplugged wiring , especially to sensors .

Check spark plugs and wires .

My 91 has throttle body fuel injection . Yours ? Or does it have a carb ?

Electrical . Does the new fan not run ? Low beams not working ? Look for problems at the fuse box . Does it have fuses in more than one location ? Look for bad / loose / burned connections .

Heater fans sometimes have a part with a couple resistors , that give you the different speeds . If yours has this , look for it & check it out .
