what to look for?

Exclamation what to look for?

im looking to buy this 91 caprice for 500$ and the guy says it runs good and all but theres rust under the door and back fender now i just wanna know what areas of the car to look at b4 buying it like motor,tranny etc.. can anyone give me advice please

Yeah...dont buy it... Unless you'll buy it to get some spare parts for your other 91 caprice.

Have you noticed that "the guy" ALWAYS "says it runs good"? Thats because, if he says "its a piece of junk", nobody will buy it. So just get in the car, start it up, and drive it around for about 10 miles. Go fast, go slow, do a forced stop, let it rip the road open and then check the underside of the car. Thats the only way of knowing if a car "runs good".

Good call Koffietje....I agree. Also check for oil leaks, coolant leaks and trans leaks. Listen for abnromal clicks or knocks coming from the engine when idling and running.
$500 is pretty cheap.....how many miles?? If anything, take to a trusted mechanic and let them do a once over.....good luck!!
