Captiva 7 2.2 diesel . LNQ motor camshaft sensor fault P0340 .

symptom . Car will not start with cam sensor connected
Will start when disconnected
Mil light on
fault codes P0340 P0341
Have egr code P0487 (not sure if related )

Issue , does not have Crank Position Sensor reading when cranking with cam sensor connected . (No crank shaft DTC ) no start
Disconnect cam sensor get crank sensor
Reading and start .

both sensors replaced. Timing and Reluctor checked correct .
5v power and signal to cam sensor checked earth checked

Bypassed harness. wired sensor to just above ecu .

Ecu replaced still same .
Seems like corruption somewhere
have run with drive belt off as poss spikes from alternator.

any body seen anything similar have not done much work on these cars thanks Charlie .

will be something small can’t put my finger on it
