Default 02 Cavalier windshield molding ripples?? (pics added)

Hey guys. i have an '02 chevrolet cavalier and the windshield molding is starting to get a bunch of very large ripples around the endges mainly at the top and bottom of the windshield. i'll be able to have pictures soon. but i was wondering what could cause this, and more importantly, how do i fix it?! i was hoping this would work;

the problem is it's not the right year, and i cant seem to find a version for my year anywhere. i really don't know what to do, and i don't want to have to take it to a shop to get fixed. im not sure if it would be called the 'molding' or the 'weathering strip'??

please help me out. i really want to get this looking good again.

yeah, but if the old one isn't meant to go back one, and the 14 dollar one doesn't fit, i'm more concerned about not having any strip on windshield than i am about being out 14+ bucks...
