1993 Cavalier RS with 3.1 v6, 3 times now my son was driving and it just quit and wouldn't start. Once I got there, it started right up. Last time he coasted into his parking spot and it wouldn't start. Same thing no spark. We changed crank position sensor, no improvement. It sat for 3 days and when he tried it again, it started right up.

Last thing I did after replacing the CPS was to remove the starter and check wiring on the Ignition Module with the battery disconnected. Don't recall if we tried it after putting everything back together. Bad connection?? or is this a classic IM failing sign? Weather has cooled off a lot last few days, Heat related?? any guesses??

 

Second time I have asked for help on this forum and gotten no response. I guess I will try elsewhere. Thanks for nothing!!

 

I would have said change ignition module as they sometimes fail when hot, then ok again when cooled down. Sorry for the not so prompt response, 1st time I saw your post!

 

Replaced the ignition module, got spark and then it was gone again. let it sit for a week and it started right up. Hasn't driven it much as he doesn't trust it. Now his girlfriend is on a rampage and won't let anyone talk to my son (including me) so it will sit until she either wakes up and smells the motor oil, or my son kicks her sorry *** out. I do miss seeing my grandson tho...
