I have 2001 z24 with a blown motor. I found a motor out of a 1997 z24. I was told by a local mechanic that the motor out of the 97 would work for my 01. I just have to change the intake gasket and use the original intake off of my 01. Does anyone know if this is true?

 

Yes you can use the motor. The engine are the same until late 2002 through 2005. There are some changes required but very minimal.
