Default 2003 Cavalier eng.ck on EVAP code

I'm a 30yr. self-fixer and and have yet to conquer the brain teaser EVAP system on my daughters 03 Cavalier. Other than a new gas cap and observe loose or cracked lines should I start replacing valve components randomly until the lite goes off or take it to a smoke shop for tests. I have 11 months before inspection and doubt it will pass with lite ON.

try the pcv valve, the evap parts are kinda cheap, i dont think a mechanic will be able to tell (unless he is real good) most average mechanics will just throw parts at it anyway

03 cavalier went to the shop, took them 2 days with smoke test to decide to change the vent solonoid valve ( right side rear axle) location. Check engine light stays off now. Part $36.00 Labor $180.00 + tax.
