Default 2005 Cavalier help

Hello all

I just recently had my 05 Cavalier attempted to be stolen. The would be thieves ripped apart my ignition lock cylinder pretty badly before they were deterred and took off.

now I have replaced the lock cylinder, new keys all that good stuff and I still cannot get my car to start. I know it is a problem with the security system and have tried a few fixes:

First I tried the manual reprogram. Turn it on, wait for ten minutes while the security light goes blank, turn it off. Repeat that 3 times....did not work

I tried the passlock 2 "bypass". Solder a resistor between the yellow and black wire of the ignition

and still nothing. Now the "theft system" light will not turn off peroid. I could leave the key in the ignition for hours and still it wont turn off.

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated. I might have done the bypass wrong or something!

Thank you all in advance

put a charger or booster pack on the battery during the 30min relearn. make sure you turn the key off and wait 5 seconds after each 10min relearn. if still no luck you may have to go to the dealer for a 10min learn via the scan tool.

the concern being your battery not being able to complete 30 min of theft relearn.

if you have access to a scan tool that can read body codes, clear the dtc and try to start the car. then post the dtc that sets.
