check for short to grd.
-go to the fuse and probe both sides to determine which is the power side and which is not. the pin that is not the power side is the one we want
-unplug the connector at the fuel pump.
-key off, use an ohm meter to check for short to grd. place one meter lead on the fuse pin we identified earlier and the 2nd lead to a good ground.
the circuit should read OL. If any resistance reading is found, the wiring harness is shorted to grd. Your options if the harness is shorted is to either locate the short or run a new power wire.

did you splice in an connector update kit?
what fault condition caused you to replace the pump in the first place?
