Default 96 Cavalier no spark, no fuel

I am working on a 96 cavalier for a friend of mine and its got me stumped. It is a base 96-97 (Manufactured 11/96) cavalier with a 2.2L and a 3 speed automatic. He drove to work just fine and when he came out to go home the car wouldnt start. So i towed it to the shop i am working at and have been working on it here and there with some research online in bettween. The car will turn over just fine, but i have no spark and i also have no fuel pump. Fuel pump works when i unplug the relay and supply power to it, have tested and the relay isnt getting the power to engage the relay. I noticed that the theft system light is on when the key is on and doesnt go out with a known good key. Also when i turn the key on the driving light indicator on the clustor flashes really fast for a couple of seconds and then slows down to steady flash and the lights never come on up front. And lastly i tried to hook up an OTC scanner and a code reader and i cant get either to make a connection with the vehical. I find it funny that it lost spark, fuel, driving lights, i cant hook up a scanner, and the theft system light is on all at the same time when he drove it to work. I have tried to by pass the theft system without success, and when i ohmed the key lock i got millions of ohms. I hate to throw a couple hundred dollars at a key switch just to see if it works. I have also double checked all under hood and in dash fuses twice. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Maybe try making sure the chassis ground is good by using jumper cables from the negative battery post to something on the chassis. With so many things going on and off, and your not being able to read codes, maybe it's the ECU - you can get one on eBay for around $40 delivered. You did try to reset the ECU by unplugging the battery for a while, and there was no check engine light while it was running, right?
