96 Steering Column/Wheel Installation Questions
I just bought a complete steering column from a 96 sunfire (supposed drop in for a 96 Cavalier Z24), but my steering wheel is off 90 degrees counterclockwise. The only two ways to correct it seems to be to remove and rotate the "coil ASM", but it is heavily labelled with warnings about proper alignment and airbag failure. Can anyone give me a walk through on this? Would it be possible to correct it with an alignment instead?
The other question has to do with the spring contact that looks like it goes into a hole through the wheel and into the coil ASM. It looksl ike it has small pin of sorts that should twist into a slot and hold it in, but I can't get it to catch; does it need to or does it just sit loosely in the hole? Pic of the contact below, and thanks in advance for the help.
