Default ABS Control Module

I have a '98 Cav and the ABS and parking brake lights both stayed on a few days ago. I got it to a garage and they told me that the ABS control module had gone bad. They also told me that it was $1000 part, but I could drive without it...just wouldn't have any ABS. I found somebody local parting out a similar Cav and got the control module from them. It worked in their car, but when I put it in mine, I still have the warning lights on. Anybody out there have these lights on with a different diagnosis? Anybody know if there is an "easy" way to test an ABS control module? Let me know. Thanks!

It may not be the module but rather a wheel sensor.

Any thoughts on how to test/check either the module or the wheel sensors?
