Can anyone help me...i need to know how to add oil to an a/c compressor. Is there a special tool needed to do this? Thanks

 

Not sure but I am curious as to who told you of the problem. Or, how do you know you need oil?

I agree. If you added freon or r134a, without adding oil, it depends on if there was leakage, or how much fluid you had to add. All systems have a certain amount originally installed, and you can get the right fluid with the oil in the canister. For instance, if you had it evacuated it needs the full charge of oil. As I recall, (someone can correct me on this) if you add 1/2 a full load of fluid, you may need 1/2 a full load of oil. I hope this helps, or spurs more help for you...

 

Well, I purchased a remanufactored comprassor and it says on the box, "Contains no oil, must add oil". I know they do sell quarts of a/c oil at the parts store. Im just unsure of how to put it in.

 

The r134a or Freon comes with and without oil in the canisters. You need to know how much oil is needed in your compressor, add that much as you add the r134a or Freon, or before if you buy the canister of oil. If the canister has more oil in it than you need, you should put it on a scale to see how much you are using. You may want to talk to a techy person before you do this, because you certainly don't want too much.
