Default Bypassing/Elimination of Rev Limiter (2002 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L)

Hey guys!

I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L that I race on an oval dirt track. My problem is that about half way down the back and front stretches I am hitting the rev limiter. I NEED to get it removed if possible or figure something out so that I can get the maximum performance out of my car. However, I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg.

Thanks!

I can't help with the rev limiter but you should be hitting it at the end of the straight on a really good lap. Can you go up a gear and run a shorter tire, or down a gear and run a taller tire? One or two tire sizes could make enough difference. Bob

I'm racing on a quarter mile track and staying in 2nd gear the whole time. On such a small track, I think shifting would hurt me rathe than help. I had a guy tell me to swap my computer out with one from an automatic (same year). Do you think this would help?

Thank you!!

both oem pcm's will have the same governed rev and speed limiters.

also the "new" ecm will have to be programmed just to allow the car to start due to the theft deterrant system.

spend your money on a custom tune. It may also provide some small performance improvement.

Do you have any suggestions or preferances for the tuner?
