Cavalier has fuel and spark but won't start
I bought the 2005 car last year.. The engine turned over then but didn't start. It has been sitting a year. Has spark and fuel. What else do you need to know? Very frustrating Thank you.

[QUOTE=kevinkpk;438957]What color is the spark?[/QUOTE
I have no idea. I'm not even close to being a mechanic. I had the Cavalier (see, I can spell it.) towed to a young guy who just opened up a local shop. I will give him a call and ask the color. More then a year ago, I bought the car from a seemingly nice guy who said the car turned over but wouldn't start. I had taken my neighbor and ex mechanic along for his expertise and trusted him when he said the car just needed a timing chain. Well, said neighbor turns out to have mental issues. When I mention his name around town, everyone stops talking like in the old EF Hutton commercials and commiserates with me.
When I posted the thread, I couldn't get more than 3 letters typed and then had to wait a minute or 2 before I could post 3 more letters. That's why there is so little info in my first post. I will try to get back to this reply tomorrow. Thank you.

The spark should be white, if it is red, or yellow you have to replace the ignition coils( I am not sure about this ignition circuit) but it could have spark, but not enough to run.

You say it has fuel, how do you know? The only way to confirm that the engine has fuel but still won't start is to pour a small amount of gas directly into the engine intake. If the engine starts, runs for a few seconds and stops, you've probably got a bad fuel pump. If the engine still won't start it's probably a crank sensor.
