Default Clutch Pedal Over-Center Feeling

Good morning,

I have a 1998 Cavalier 2.2 that has weird clutch pedal behavior after a transmission/clutch replacement. What I know:

-Manual transmission came from a similar year Pontiac Sunfire
-Clutch was "new" (likely remanufactured/rebuilt) for the 1998 Cavalier.
-Clutch master cylinder was not replaced. Not sure about slave.

Work was done by my father and brother. My father is very familiar with car mechanics and has done lots of work himself. However, now the clutch pedal occasionally stays on the floor. I can still shift normally and drive, and it has the correct pedal feel for 2/3s of the travel. At 2/3 of travel, the pedal resistance lessens and feels almost as if it goes 'over-center' and will get stuck on the floor (when pedal needs to be pressed fully to start the car), it will spring back to normal after lifting it slightly. No fluid loss or leaks has been found. Any help tracking this down would be great. Thanks,

Brian J
