EXPERTS HELP, Grandpas Cavalier
This is the patient
Chevrolet Cavalier 1997, 2.2 engine, two doors
Symptoms and Signs
Black Smoke
Gas Smell
Hard to start.
What has been tried so far>
Ignition Coil new
Spark plugs and cable new
oil change and filter, looks normal.
Cooling ok no leaks, no water in the cylinders
Gas pump ok, cheked with gauge
New gas filter
New gas regulator
New refurbished four injectors
New water pump
New engine starter motor
New battery
TPS throttle position sensor New
O2 Sensor New
Vacuum sensor, New
MAF Mass Air Flow meter New
New Air filter.
Pressure Test on cylinders its exelent.
I just ordered a junkyard computer ECU
Do you think could be something else
Its grandpas car, he doesnt want to let go

black smoke, fuel smell and hard start are all symptoms of overfueling
so either the system is metering to much fuel or a possible fuel pressure, leakdown issue
what does the fuel trim say when running in closed loop operation.
