I'm helping a friend with a 1996 Cavalier 2.2l that has a cooling fan with a mind of it's own. Sometimes the fan comes on fine when it heats up sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it comes on when it isn't hot yet. Seems to go on and off whenever it pleases. Haven't really started digging into it yet but would appreciate some guidance before I do as I've never messed with a Cavalier.

Any ideas where to start?

the fan will run anytime the a/c or defrost is on or when the coolant hits a set temperature, without being around it or more details theres not much else I could say right now, any codes?
