Fix up or get another vehicle?
I have a 2002 cavalier with 108,000 miles on it. The car is getting to the point where its needing some replacements. Right now my car has these issues or needs these parts:
1. Has piston slap
2. Needs all shocks replaced
3. Needs Brakes + Hardware Replaced
4. Needs new exhaust system
5. Needs motor mounts
6. Strange shifting with auto transmission. From a stop shifting from 1st to 2nd the car gives a sort of bucking motion (no clunk) that kicks you forward very slightly, but shifts every time and has plenty of power.
For everything excluding the piston slap and transmission, I can't almost everything off rock auto for $700 including shipping. I can install most of it by myself. It would just kill me though that at 108,000 to get rid of it, but who knows, maybe its time oddly enough.
What would anyone suggest?

Are you happy with the car if everything was ok? If you are then $700 is not too much to pay. It would cost you more to get another car. So you have to make that decision. There are many Chey's with piston slap on the road that run just fine with no other problems. I have piston slap with 174,000 miles and it runs good as new.
