Default Light in shift indicator

Dumb question. I'm in the process of fixing up my 91 Cav. Since I need to take out the console to replace the carpeting I want to fix a small but annoying problem, the smalllight bulb inside the shift indicator burnt out. Does anyone know how to replace the bulb without damaging the socket or ending up with brokenglass in your fingers?

Default RE: Light in shift indicator

if u are talking about the bulbs that have that plastic thing around them and you turn them into the back of the instrument panel
well i took mine out broke the bulb and cut the wires going down into the plastic thing and got some a new bulb (colored ones)
lined up the new wires and pushed it down in there and and made sure the wires were contacting the metal part on the plastic thing
it took some patience but it was easy to do
or u could just go to the dealer and probably buy the bulb with the plastic oon it since most parts dont sell them (i couldnt find one that did anyway)

good luck
