A little more.
My key seems to not be turning the ignition cylinder all the way. It seems like it should turn just a hair more to engage the starter but it won't. All the dash lights come on and when I go to try and crank they almost all turn off as it would normally but I feel like the key isn't reaching all the way to the start position. My car is a 5 speed 2.2. I get no click from the starter no turning over from the engine, nothing until I release the key back to the run position then all my instrument lights come back on. What could be causing this?
Welcome from Florida. With the instrument light going off it seems that the key is going far enough. Check the starter relay and the starter and solenoid itself. It could also be a wiring problem to the starter.
Thank you. I am far from what anyone would consider a mechanic can u please tell me how to check the starter relay
