Default No high beams?

Hey guys i have a 96 cavalier that i just purchased. When i turn the high beams on the low beams shut off and the high beams dont come on. as soon as i turn the high beams off the low beams come back. Also the high beam light on the dash (blue light) stays on all the time even if no lights are on at all. What could it be?

check that your headlight bulbs are not burn't out and one of the filaments is hanging on to the high beam side which could give you an on high beam blue light dash light condition, easiest place to start is the headlight bulbs anyway.

If the bulbs are good check the connectors and the wiring to the bulbs. If all that checks out, then the next thing is the switch.

I had similar problem with my '04 Cavalier. Headlights would not come on all the time and high beams wouldn't stay on. Once I picked up and installed a new combination switch, problem was solved. Common issue with these models.
