Default O2 bung and O2 sensor question on 97 cavalier

Since i am thinking of fabbing up a whole new exhaust system and i need to somehow put a new bung and O2 sensor in does anyone know if it will fit on a weldable bung on the exhaust pipe by any chance like one from ebay AND being that the car has the downstream to see if its cat is there still if i remove it will it run any different and make it panic or just add another code to my list on the CEL.

a weldable bung should work fine, but you would probably have to tune out the downstream o2 if you plan to remove it or you will get a cel and it will run rough

I am a product specialist with Walker Products, a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of oxygen sensors. I wanted to ad that cutting out the downstream O2 on a vehicle can have a negative effect on your gas mileage. Besides monitoring your cat function, the downstream sensor also works with your upstream sensor to determine the correct air/ fuel ratio for your vehicle. When the downstream sensor is cut out, the vehicle will run in open loop mode, which ignores all input from the remaining O2 and adjusts your fuel mixture according to standardized percentages. You will lose any real-time adjustment capabilities.

ok then il just have to weld in a bung and do a new one. Since you're a product specialist what O2 sensor do i need for a upstream one. All i can find is downstream for my car and its a simple cheap 15 bucks.

The OE part number for the upstream sensor on your 97 Cavalier is 25162600. The Walker number is 250-21001 and it goes for $18.00 on Amazon. Not a bad price for an O2!

You can also purchase that Walker O2 sensor from us and know where it is coming from...not leaving it up to Amazon to send the order to an unknown supplier
Just use the drop down to filter out Walker and it will be the first one you see.
1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Oxygen Sensor - Standard Motor Products, Denso, Bosch - TheAutoPartsShop - TheAutoPartsShop

I will also match the 18.00 plus shipping if you call me today to place the order
