i have a 98 cavalier 2.2 auto 3spd. and when the speedo stops working, it wont shift outta first gear. codes say its a vehicle speed sensor. once the car is shut off for a while u can take off and it shifts fine, for about 5 to 10 min. then acts up again. anyone know what the voltage reading for this sensor is suppost to be for truoble shooting purposes? or do i have a bigger problem? any help would be appreciated, thanks for looking!

 

just replace the sensor, no need to stress over it, seems like u have the right prediction
