starting issues
My 2004 cavalier has 91,000 miles and has been a very dependable. I change the oil on a regular basis, changed battery once and have had to change the brake pads a few times but other than that, its been great. Now(the last month) when I try to start it, it seems like the battery is not strong enough, but then on maybe the third try it will slag a little then fire over, this problem has been getting worse, now I am worried it will not start. I have changed the starter and checked the battery with no change, any ideas where to go next?
I'd say something is wrong with battery wires or engine ground. If you have a voltmeter measure voltage on battery when starter is engaged. If it is 8 V or more there is a bad contact somewhere. By measuring it on battery I mean measuring it on terminals, not cables connected to them.
